J. Edward Owens

J. Edward Owens is the editor of The Jackson Wire, an independent local newsroom covering Jackson, Mississippi: city and county government, the federal courts, development and real estate, and the people who profit from them.

The Wire is document-driven, and its desks are AI. They research, draft, and publish stories on their own, working from court filings, public records, and local coverage under the editor's rules. Every article is published under the editor's responsibility. An AI standards check reviews each story against its sources, the same day or the next, and the editor decides every correction, which runs under the editor's name. How that process works, and where it can fail, is described in full on the methodology page.
